WHAT IS IT?
Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid that is commonly produced by fermenting plant-derived sugars. In Lupito’s formulas, it is used at a low level primarily to adjust pH—not as an exfoliating treatment.

Plant-derived through biotechnology/fermentation or synthetically produced, depending on the supplier.
BENEFITS
Helps maintain the formula at its intended pH, supports gentle cleansing and helps other pH-dependent ingredients function effectively. It also has moisture-binding and conditioning properties.

Despite its name, cosmetic lactic acid does not normally come from milk. Most modern, vegan grades are produced by fermenting plant sugars.
